Community Services

We have a large team of professional staff who are attached to the Practice and provide services to our patients. These include District Nurses, Health Visitors, Midwives, Phlebotomists and Podiatry.

 

Pregnancy/Midwives

Pregnancy Notification

If you have any difficulty in accessing the digital form above – please phone Maternity Services  on 029 20 745030 during office hours.

A Midwife will contact you by telephone within 1-2 weeks of you sending the completed form, to arrange your maternity booking appointment. This will include taking a full medical history to plan your maternity care.

If you have not had a response by 14 days - please contact Maternity Services on 029 20 745030.

Pregnancy Concerns

If you have any concerns during the early stages of your pregnancy (before 17 weeks) please contact your GP practice; if you are 17 weeks+ pregnant please contact the maternity assessment unit 029 20 744658

Podiatry

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board Podiatry Services, Cardiff Royal Infirmary - Helping you care for your feet

Who can access the Podiatry service?

Anyone who is resident in the Cardiff & Vale area who has a foot problem, taking into account both medical and foot health.

What foot problems do Podiatry deal with?

A wide range of foot and postural problems, from foot ulceration and in-growing toe nails to corns and the provision of orthotics (prescription foot supports) for gait problems.

What services are provided?

  • Assessment & Diagnostic Clinics – for new patients.
  • Telephone Triage Service – for some new patients.
  • Wound Clinics – for patients with foot ulcers.
  • Diabetic Screening Clinics – for diabetic patients who need advanced foot screening.
  • Vascular Screening Clinics – for patients who need advanced foot screening.
  • Nail Surgery – for patients who need part or whole nails removed under local anaesthetic.
  • Lower Limb Biomechanical Assessment & Gait Analysis – for patients with musculoskeletal problems.
  • General Podiatry Treatment Clinics – for patients who have an agreed treatment plan.
  • Home Visiting Service – for patients who are housebound.
  • In Patient Service – for patients in hospital where treatment is essential prior to discharge.
  • Education, Advice on Self Care and Sign Posting Service to Alternative Care – for those who are not eligible for NHS podiatry.
